the new Civic so breakthrough becomes clear the

i-VTEC® technology, a Drive-by-Wire Throttle
System™, 16 valves and 1.6 litres let the
all-new Civic engine make 140 peak horses. This
power flows through a precise, new 5-speed manual
transmission or the only available 5-speed automatic
in its class.
On top of the
power-spreading benefits of Variable valve Timing
and lift Electronic Control (i-VTEC), Civic adds
a brilliant new twist. Under light engine loads,
this next-generation i-VTEC system delays valve
closing and essentially reduces the piston stroke
for the fuel-efficiency of a smaller engine.
Plus, the new
Civic boasts more standard safety features than
any other car in its class – like 4-wheel
Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Driver and Front
Passenger Dual-Stage, Dual-Threshold Airbags (SRS),
Side Curtain Airbags. In fact, the 2006 Civic
was just won Top Safety Pick – Gold from
the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
The Civic earned "Good" ratings in frontal,
side impact and rear impact tests and measurements,
the only small car to do so.
